Growth Based on Five Strategic Priorities

Bertelsmann has become significantly faster-growing, more digital, more international and more diversified by successfully implementing its corporate strategy in recent years. The Group has heavily invested in digital and growth businesses, whereas the focus is now on organic growth. At the same time, Bertelsmann is increasingly tapping into new lines of business that benefit from digitalization, the rising demand for online education and growing consumer demands.

Value creation centers on the innovative power of creativity. Bertelsmann spends more than €5 billion a year on video content, book rights, quality journalism, as well as catalog acquisitions and artist contracts in the music sector.

The strategy has been further developed to meet new challenges such as growing competition from the major tech platforms. Going forward, it will be based on five strategic growth priorities: creating national media champions, expanding global content businesses, and strengthening Bertelsmann’s global services, online education and global digital holdings. This will serve to make the Group portfolio fast-growing, profitable, digital, international and diversified in the long-term. In addition, Group-wide projects such as Tech & Data, collaborations and alliances, training and continuing education, and the achievement of climate neutrality will be driven forward.
